This is evident in the work I do within the community. I was a volunteer Sunday School Assistant at a church I attended in the past. Brother Rick was my name, because Brother Codrington was too hard for some kids to pronounce. While working at a Barber Shop (years ago) a few parents pulled me off to the side and thanked me for not only being a good barber, but for being a good inspiration to their little men to be. I can still hear, “Hey Mr. Rick” whenever they would come in for their hair cuts. While photographing kids, you’ll hear and see me singing and laughing. I’m dancing, climbing and crawling, just to get a connection. Kids love it and I do too.
You’ll find me sitting amongst the children at family gatherings. I was once told that a family member was looking for me during one such gathering. No one could find me in the house. My aunt yelled out, “Where are the children”? Someone replied, “Their out back, playing in the yard”. With a smile on her face, my aunt says, “He’s out there too”.
When Cassandra Crosby from the Hands of Care Learning Center, in Lakewood, WA walked into A&M Beauty Salon, my workplace, she was offering sponsorships for her up coming “Back To School Youth Program,” I thought, how wonderful it would be to capture her big event. She was delighted with my offer. The event was a great success. There were lots of games, raffles, food and beverages. Charlie Land from KLAY AM 1180 radio station was amongst the attendees’, broadcasting live. I felt a little excited when I heard eRichard Photography on the air. The parents and sponsors did a great job. There were plenty of school supplies, back to school clothes and gifts to hand out.
Here are a few pictures and a slideshow for you to view. Witness how great of a time we had, thanks to Cassandra, all her sponsors and volunteers’.
Enjoy ~ eRic

Michele
I'm just trying to keep up with you Michele ;-)
It's always nice to know someone who really cares about the children. I've always had a great passion for children also. It was mentioned to me "when I was around 6 or 7 yrs. old - how I would stop playing with others outside, to come inside to play with my younger niece & cousin." Now as I see it today, it's hard to keep the kids from going outside & coming in to eat. If they had it their way, they would play all day til they drop! Forget about using the bathroom, eating some food, or changing their clothes ~ just keep me riding my bike, playing etc... You are a good role model for children today Eric, especially one who enjoys his job while mentoring. Keep up the good work. God Bless!!!
Wonderful pics Eric!
